3M 94 Tape Primer

A highly durable primer, 3M 23929 94 yellow tape primer was originally intended for use with 3M VHB tape and is designed to improve tape adhesion on a variety of surfaces. It can be used on paint, wood, glass, bare metal, and rubber as well as ABS plastic, Polypropylene, PET/PBT blends and Polyethylene. It is especially recommended for Polyolefin and non-olefin plastics as they are low adhesion surfaces, plus non-olefin plastics contain additives that hinder adhesion even further. Yellow tape primer also increases adhesion on Neoprene and Santoprene rubber which contain migrating oils, making them low adhesion surfaces, as well. 3M tape primer is an excellent to get that extra stick needed for larger projects and is a popular choice for securely applying automotive vinyl wraps and dashboards. The additional adhesive strength is especially effective on curved areas of vehicles such as the edges of hoods, trunks and vehicle tops where vinyl wraps tend to come apart. It is also a great way to lock down the edges of the graphic to prevent peeling. Using a tape primer can increase the life of a vinyl wrap from 1 year to as many as 5 years. This primer is a clear yellow to dark orange liquid that should be applied to surfaces that have been cleaned using a lint-free cloth and a 50/50 mixture of water and Isopropyl Alcohol. The surface should be totally dry before applying the primer. Before additional coats of primer are applied, allow prior coats to dry completely. If necessary, excess primer can be removed with a little acetone and elbow grease.
